Man charged with assault
A Palmyra man was charged Jan. 7 with third-degree assault, second-degree criminal contempt and fourth-degree criminal mischief, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Ryan J. Laws, 33, of 802 Conifer Dr., allegedly struck a person in the face and then broke his cell phone, violating a court order to stay away from the victim, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Palmyra Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.

Man charged with strangulation
A Galen man was charged Jan. 8 with second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Eduin Vasquez, 39, of 9125 Lind Road, allegedly strangled his girlfriend, threw her into a wall and then forced her to the floor, deputies said. He also allegedly wrestled her phone away from her, preventing her from calling 911. The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital by Lyons Ambulance. Vasquez allegedly attempted to flee and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Galen Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.

Unlicensed driver nabbed
A Rochester man was charged Jan. 6 with unlawful possession of marijuana, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle without financial security, New York state police said.
Jacob L. Trim, 29, of 96 Wellington Ave., was allegedly seen by troopers driving an unregistered vehicle and subsequent to a traffic stop found to have marijuana and to be driving without a license, troopers said.
He was arraigned in Williamson Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail.
Macedon
Man charged with DWI
A Palmyra man was charged Jan. 5 with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, failing to keep right on a two-lane road, and moving from lane unsafely, New York state police said.
Matthew K. Carkner, 19, from 3200 Maple Ave., was allegedly seen by troopers moving from his lane unsafely and failing to keep right on Barnes Road in Macedon, troopers said. Field sobriety tests revealed he allegedly had a blood-alcohol of .23 percent.
He was issued appearance tickets for Macedon Town Court and released to his father.

Man charged with felony
An Ontario man was charged Jan. 13 with felony driving while intoxicated, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and moving from lane unsafely, New York state police said.
Brian M. Smith, 33, was stopped after he allegedly struck a curb on Maple Avenue in Sodus, troopers said. Field sobriety tests revealed he had a blood-alcohol content of .17 percent.
He was arraigned in Sodus Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $500 cash or $1,000 bail bond.

A Seneca Falls woman was charged Jan. 5 with unlawful possession of marijuana, New York state police said.
Amber M. Peters, 20, was stopped on South Main Street in Marion for allegedly failing to keep right and found to have marijuana, troopers said.
She was issued an appearance ticket for Marion Town Court and released.
Wolcott
Larceny leads to two arrests
Two Wolcott teens were charged Jan. 6 with petit larceny and trespass, New York state police said.
Michael C. Paul, 17, and Dylan P Webber, 16, were charged following a complaint that at about 11:45 p.m. the victim looked out his house window and saw his car door open in the driveway on Wager Road in Wolcott, troopers said. The victim went outside and found a teenage male allegedly rummaging through his belongings. When the victim yelled, the teen fled with another teenager, troopers said.
The teens were found on Route 104 allegedly with items that were missing from the vehicle, troopers said.
Both teens were issued appearance tickets for Wolcott Town Court and released.
Sodus
Man charged in gas station larceny
A Penfield man was charged Jan. 16 with petit larceny, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Anthony Surace, 42, of 1500 Creek St., was allegedly involved in a larceny at the Hydration Station in Sodus last June, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Sodus Town Court where he posted bail and was released.
Lyons
Man found with marijuana
A Lyons man was charged Jan. 12 with unlawful possession of marijuana and no head lamp, New York state police said.
Corey R. Lashier, 22, was stopped by troopers on Route 31 in Lyons at which time police saw marijuana sitting in plain sight, troopers said.
He was issued an appearance ticket for Lyons Town Court and released.
Ontario
Car strikes snow bank, garbage tote
An Ontario man was charged Jan. 4 with driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of marijuana, moving from lane unsafely and obstructed rear plate, New York state police said.
Brandon A. Barron, 18, was allegedly stopped on Alyssum Lane after he was seen by troopers driving on Ridge Road in Ontario where he struck a snow embankment and then a garbage tote in a driveway, troopers said.
He was arraigned in Ontario Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
Lyons
Sex offender fails to register
A Sodus man was charged Jan. 11 with failing to verify his address and failing to provide a yearly photo, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Earl Jackson, 41, of 6443 Peoples Road, a level III sex offender, allegedly failed to register his address with the state and provide a photo, deputies said.
He was issued appearance tickets for Lyons Town Court and released.
Ontario
Driver climbs out of driver’s seat
A Rochester man was charged Jan. 20 with failing to stop at a stop sign, operating a vehicle without having at least one hand on the steering mechanism, not wearing a seat belt, following too closely, driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood-alcohol content of .08 percent or more, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Daniel Ott, 19, of 50 Flagstaff Dr., was stopped for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign and when deputies attempted to stop him, he was seen climbing out of the driver’s seat into the back seat while the vehicle was still in motion, deputies said.
He was issued appearance tickets for Ontario Town Court and released.
