The Macedon Police Department recently presented a $500 scholarship to the Palmyra-Macedon Chapter of Dollars for Scholars.

The scholarship funds will be given at an annual awards ceremony in June to a senior who intends to pursue a career in criminal justice.

The Macedon Police Department consists of Chief John Comella, Sergeant Tom Cooman, Patrol Officers Ed O’Konsky, Earl Lergner, and David Dumchuck. Part time officers include Ron Hall, Tom Damato and Scott Haine. Responding to more than 7,000 calls last year, the department serves the community by working in partnership with residents, businesses and organizations to prevent crime and improve the quality of life for those who live, work or visit the community.

Founded in 1989, the mission of Pal-Mac Dollars for Scholars is to assist young people in achieving their goal of attending college. Through the generosity of local citizens, members of the Class of 2012 were awarded over $118,000.
