A Greece man was charged Thursday with allegedly growing marijuana plants on public land in the Sonyea State Forest in Livingston County.
Alan Osborne, 54, of 64 Country Lane, Greece, was charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly violating a Public Health Law and unlawfully growing cannabis. New York Department of Environmental Conservation officers Brian Wade and Chris Ward were on duty Sept 1., the opening day of squirrel season, to monitor hunting regulations. The officers found Osborne watering marijuana plants on the property, according to a release. He was allegedly growing 17 plants.
The state DEC, along with State Police from the Geneseo Station, made the arrest.
Osborne will appear in the Town of Groveland court on Sept. 15 at 6 p.m.
