A seven-month old baby girl and four-year-old boy were among two of the four people rescued after a house fire in Chili Thrusday morning.
Emergency responders arrived at 107 Golden Road, which runs between Chestnut Ridge Road and Westside Drive, around 10:20 a.m.
The fire was reported by Barbara Langdon, a U.S. postal service worker, who was delivering mail, noticed the fire, and called 911, according to Cpl. John Helfer from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Langdon saw a 68-year-old woman hanging halfway out of a window and pulled her to safety.
Deputy Jason Elliotto and Chili Fire Department members Dave Saur and Scott Miller went into the smoke-filled residence and found a 24-year-old female on the floor. Chili Battalion Chief Chuck Kaiser located a four-year-old boy and brought him to safety. Elliotto went back into the residence and, while crawling around on the floor, noticed a pile of clothes that appeared to be moving. There he found a seven-month-old girl.
All four individuals were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. The two adults suffered serious injuries., Helfer said, while the two children remain in critical condition.
