The Walworth-Seely Public Library celebrated its 50th birthday Feb. 12.
Eighty-five people attended the event. Among them was Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle, who hopes to enter the event in the Congressional Record.
Boy Scout troop 167 performed the flag ceremony and led guests in the Pledge of Allegiance. The MC for the event was former liaison to the library, Suzi Hawkins-Mancewas.
Congresswoman Buerkle was joined by Robert Plant, supervisor for the Town of Walworth; Frank Maciuska, former town board liaison to the library; and others in congratulating the library.
A student from Wayne Central, Alex Camp, presented a mural to the library. The project was part of her 400 hours of community service to earn the Gold Congressional Award.
