Lyons Elks Lodge 869 members have been named "Ritual Champs."
In an annual competition held within the West Central district, Canandaigua Elks Lodge 1844 hosted the January event. Lodges participating at the event included Lyons Lodge 869, Webster-Fairport Lodge 2396 and Wolcott Lodge 1763.
After a day of activities, including the presentation of the initiatory ritual, Lyons Lodge was declared the winner.
District Ritual Co-Chairmen Gary Rodgers and Scott Seltzer also named All-Star status for Lyons officers Leading Knight Emily Wunder, Loyal Knight Julie Wunder, Chaplain Val Paton and Inner Guard Tom Gowan. Candidate Ed Gnau, also from the Lyons team, was also designated an All-Star at the event.
Lyons ritual coach Mark Wunder received the group's "Coach of the Year" award for his efforts.
All winning Lyons Elks Lodge officers are invited to participate in the statewide competition at the annual spring convention of the New York State Elks Association. The event will be held from May 17 to May 20 in Albany.
