Local author and editor Greg Gerard will hold a writing workshop at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at Macedon Public Library, 30 Main St.

The workshop is for local writers of all skill levels ages 16 and older. It will focus on writing narrative nonfiction exploring the use of winter as the setting. Participants will be given a variety of prompts to inspire and inform writing they can continue to develop after the workshop.

Gerard will provide constructive feedback, and participants will be asked to offer useful insights about each other’s writing. Gerard teaches writing part-time at Writers & Books, and has been a guest instructor at University of Rochester’s Scholars Creative Writing Program. His memoir, “In Jupiter’s Shadow,” chronicles a religious boy’s struggle with forbidden attraction.

He is the editor of The Big Brick Review, an online journal that features personal accounts that build on the insightful and dynamic narrative of life.
