Palmyra resident joins Newark Rotary Club
Rochelle Morse, of Palmyra, was recently inducted into Newark Rotary Club.

Morse is a retired administrative assistant and customer service worker. She is active at Western Presbyterian Church in Palmyra and volunteers at Wayne County Humane Society, WXXI, George Eastman House and Bristol Valley Theatre.

Morse is sponsored by Rotarian Linda Werts. The club meets at noon Thursdays at American Legion, 200 E. Union St., Newark.
Palmyra student receives Alfred State scholarship
James Blazey, of Palmyra, recently received a $1,000 Alumni Scholarship from Alfred State.

Blazey is slated to graduate from Palmyra Macedon High School this year. He intends to enroll in Alfred State’s air conditioning and heating technology program.

To be eligible, freshmen must earn a minimum 83 high school average through their junior year and be the child or grandchild of an Alfred State alumni.
Williamson soldier reenlists in New York Army National Guard
Spc. Jason Allen, of Williamson, recently reenlisted to continue service in the New York Army National Guard.

Allen serves with the Company B, 3-126th Aviation.

“These soldiers who continue to re-enlist provide experience and continuity for whatever challenges lay ahead for our New York National Guard family,” Maj. Gen. Anthony German said.
Local cadets named 2nd lieutenants in U.S. Army
Jessie Henderson, of Palmyra; and Lucas Mazza, of Macedon, were recently awarded commissions as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army during a ceremony at University of North Georgia.

Henderson, a Cato-Meridian High School graduate, earned a bachelor’s degree and commissioned in the Army Infantry.

Mazza, a Victor Central School graduate, earned a bachelor’s degree and commissioned in the Army Signal/Infantry.
