The Lyons Preservation League and Lyons Main Street Program are seeking to preserve historic buildings after saving two properties from demolition in 2016.
Lyons’ historic buildings date back to the early 1800s and are still in use today. The programs recently held a public meeting with the Landmark Society of Western New York to discuss ways to start preservation opportunities.
The Landmark Society of Western New York is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, interpreting and fostering interest in the architectural, historical and cultural heritage of the region.
The National Registry of Historic Places nomination process is currently under way in Lyons. The honorary designation will offer property owners in the historic district the opportunity to receive tax credits on restorations to their historic property.
