Wayne County Public Health, through the partnerships that form the Wayne Health Improvement Partnership, recently announced its completion of the 2016 community health assessment process.
Public health departments are required to complete a comprehensive community health assessment every three years in collaboration with the hospitals that serve the county. A Community Health Improvement Plan is developed through this assessment to address the county’s highest priority needs.
WCPH worked with Newark-Wayne Community Hospital to create one comprehensive plan that will be implemented throughout the county over the next two years. This year’s highest priority needs are preventing chronic diseases, promoting mental health and preventing substance abuse and promoting healthy women, infants and children.
