Macedon Public Library, 30 Main St., will host a screening of “Contact,” a film based on the Carl Sagan novel, at 1 p.m. Feb. 11 with a discussion at 3 p.m. in the Community Room.
The science fiction novel is infused with scientific concepts and takes the reader on an emotional journey with characters who are charged with receiving an extraterrestrial message, deciphering it and deciding if to make contact with the unknown.
Brian Koberlein, of Rochester Institute of Technology, will facilitate the discussion. Adult and teen attendees will consider relevance, accuracy and authenticity of the science to explore the idea of a similar scenario being possible in the future.
Copies of the book are available at the library.
