State Police say Dwayne Woolfolk, 30, of Palmyra, is facing various charges including assaulting a police officer.
Troopers responded Feb. 25 to reports of a large disturbance at Arrow Mart Store, 150 N. Main St., Newark. During the investigation, police say Woolfolk punched another male in the back of the head and attempted to run away. One of the troopers was able to catch Woolfolk, who then reportedly resisted arrest.
The trooper received a serious injury to his left hand during the struggle and was transported to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, where he was treated and released.
The village of Newark Court charged Woolfolk with assault on a police officer, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct. He was committed to Wayne County Jail on $5,000 bail.
