Active community members are encouraged to dedicate their time toward serving on a library board of trustees.
Trustees are responsible for making operational decisions, monitoring maintenance and building growth, determining annual budgets, seeking appropriate state and local funding, hiring library directors and assessing long-term strategic, planning goals that are relevant to community needs.
Personal benefits include an understanding of how the library functions and tax dollars are spent, an awareness of technology changes and reasons for upgrades and witnessing how a library affects the thinking and advancements of its visitors.
Interested residents should contact the lead librarian or director of the individual library or library system. Be prepared to submit a resume of life experiences.
