Wayne County sheriff's deputies charged Christopher L. Monroe, of Lyons, with first-degree promoting prison contraband, a class D felony; and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor.

LYONS — An inmate at the Wayne County Jail was arrested after allegedly being found in possession of cocaine inside the facility. 

Wayne County sheriff’s deputies charged 40-year-old Christopher L. Monroe, of Lyons, with first-degree promoting prison contraband, a class D felony; and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. 

Monroe was at the facility after allegedly violating his probation. 

Monroe was arraigned in Lyons Town Court and placed back in the Wayne County Jail on $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond. He will reappear in court at a later date.
