American Red Cross volunteers recently responded to two home fires and provided assistance for three families in Sodus and Clyde.
A total of 13 people were displaced. The first incident happened on Belden Avenue in Sodus, and volunteers assisted one adult and one child. The second fire happened on Ford Street in Clyde. Volunteers assisted five adults and six children.
Red Cross assistance typically includes vouchers for temporary housing, food and clothing as needed. Disaster mental health volunteers are available to help with the emotional aspect of disaster. Those affected will meet with caseworkers in the coming days to work on a long-term recovery plan.
