Sodus Center Fire Department, 5521 Main St., Sodus, and Ladies Auxiliary will hold a chicken barbecue to benefit Sandy Wickman from 1 to 5 p.m. April 29.
Wickman has had three different types of cancer over the past five years, most recently acute myeloid leukemia.
As a result, Wickman has had numerous hospital stays at Rochester General Hospital, some for an extended period of time, since December 2016. She travels every other day to the Lipson Center when she is able to be home for testing and treatment.
Wickman’s husband, Steve, is a longtime member of SCFD. Proceeds from the chicken barbecue to help with medical bills.
The chicken dinners cost $10 and include two sides. Dine-in and takeout options will be available. Attendees will enjoy live music from Country Magic, 50/50 drawings, raffles and prizes.
Those who are unable to attend the event but would like to support the Wickman family can mail donations to Sodus Center FD, Box 246, Sodus, NY, 14551. Designate the donation for “Sandy.”
