Anchor and consumer reporter Deanna Dewberry recently joined the News10NBC team.
She comes to Rochester from Dallas, where her commitment to consumer issues not only made her an advocate for the community but has been instrumental in shaping new legislation.
Dewberry, who has had cancer three times, is involved in community activities that enrich the lives of those who had cancer and promote research. She was recently awarded the Thrive Award, an honor given annually to one person who exemplifies a passion for assuaging the suffering cancer causes by The Cancer Support Community.
“Deanna is a wonderful person and a committed journalist; we are excited to have her join our team,” said Derek Dalton, WHEC-TV vice president and general manager. “Her passion for family, community and her spirit of overcoming adversity is an incredible blend that we are certain Rochester will embrace.”
Dewberry’s advocacy for her community has included stops in Indianapolis; Little Rock, Arkansas; and Lubbock, Texas. She has received 12 regional Emmy awards and numerous Associated Press and Broadcast Association honors.
“It’s important for me to be a part of a topnotch news organization that is passionate about advocating for the community — News10NBC is definitely that kind of organization,” Dewberry said. “More so, my family knew right away that Rochester, with its welcoming and friendly atmosphere, is the perfect fit for us to call home.”
Dewberry will work on the anchor desk, investigating consumer issues and building relationships as a trusted name the Rochester community can turn to for help.
