U.S. Rep. John Katko, R-24th Dist., recently announced that his office is accepting entries for the annual Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Competition through April 27 from high school students living in New York’s 24th Congressional District.
Students from across the country participate in the Congressional Art Competition each year. The winning piece of artwork is displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
“Central New York is home to many gifted young artists, and this competition is an excellent opportunity to showcase our local talent in the U.S. Capitol,” Katko said. “Each year we receive many diverse and unique entries. I look forward to seeing this year’s submissions.”
Artwork may be up to 26 inches wide, 26 inches tall and 4 inches thick and must be two dimensional; be original in concept, design and execution; not weigh more than 15 pounds; and not violate any U.S. copyright laws.
Accepted artwork includes paintings, drawings, collage, prints, mixed media, computer generated art and photography.
Artwork must be submitted with a completed copy of the competition release form to Katko’s Lyons Regional Office, 7376 state Route 31. Judging will take place May 3, and winners will be announced May 9.
