United Way of Wayne County will hold its 20th annual Day of Caring and volunteer event from 8 to 9 a.m. May 10 at Alex Eligh Community Center, 303 East Ave., Newark.
Volunteers from Wayne County businesses and organizations have been recruited by United Way to donate their time. They will be matched with nonprofit agencies that are in need of help.
Local businesses will be recognized with awards, and United Way will reveal how much revenue its recent campaign generated. Wegmans will provide breakfast before volunteers travel to their project sites throughout the county.
“This is an opportunity for many organizations to accomplish much-needed projects during one day of organized volunteerism,” said Carol Pettis, regional director for United Way of Wayne County. “Volunteering to help our community partners is a direct and hands-on effort to help the worthy causes that these agencies represent and goes a long way to assisting them in enhancing the services they provide to the community.”
