Walworth Historical Society recently held its annual dinner meeting and awards night.
The group elected its six officers for 2017-18: President Jessie Keymel, Vice President Bob Mogray, secretary Judy McMillan and trustees Larry Ruth and Dorothy French.
Jim Drew received the 2017 Community Service Award. Drew and his wife, Marge, moved to Walworth in 1968 to raise their family.
The award honors Drew’s volunteering within the town of Walworth.
Drew joined Walworth Fire Department in April 1972, and was elected fire commissioner in 2000. WFD members attended the award night to recognize Drew for his award.
He is a 45-year member of Walworth Lions Club and regularly helps set up large tents for events. He joined Genesee Valley Nordic Ski Patrol in 1987 and has been a member of Walworth Seniors for more than 20 years, ultimately serving as its secretary and treasurer.
After the award presentation, Bob Mogray presented pictures from the Walworth Class of 1947 along with a trivia game.
