Four people face murder charges in the death of a Penfield man found in Yates County
ROCHESTER — A judge has ruled that all four suspects in the death of Penfield man Craig Rideout will be tried together.
Facing charges in the case are Rideout's sons Colin and Alex, his estranged wife Laura and her boyfriend Paul "P.J." Tucci.Last summer, Craig Rideout's body was found wrapped in a tarp in a wooded area in the Town of Jerusalem in Yates County. Investigators said he had been strangled. In court on Wednesday, a judge ruled all four suspects would face trial together. The judge also denied other requests to suppress statements Laura Rideout and Paul Tucci made to investigators. The judge did agree to suppress statements the Rideout sons, Colin and Alex, made to deputies after they were arrested at Mendon Ponds Park. Deputies say the sons were dumping evidence in the Devil's Bathtub and, according to court papers, when questioned by deputies, Colin admitted to helping his mother clean up blood in his father's basement.
The judge also said he would allow cameras into the courtroom for opening and closing statements along with the verdict.
The trial is set to begin June 20.
Friends say Laura and Craig Rideout were at the middle of a contentious divorce at the time of his death. On the day his body was found, investigators say Craig Rideout’s sister discovered Laura Rideout in his apartment in Penfield.
