The Best of the Finger Lakes awards will recognize exceptional businesses throughout the region — including our close neighbors within Monroe County — in more than 150 categories that are nominated and voted on by our readers.

There is much to be proud of living in the Finger Lakes region — from the heavenly scenery to the renowned wineries to the finest dining.

But what would you say is the best part of living in the “Chosen Spot”? The best pizza restaurant? The best bed and breakfast? The best of the Finger Lakes?

Messenger Post Media is asking readers to help answer these questions by nominating their favorite businesses and regional attractions in the inaugural 2017 Best of the Finger Lakes awards.

The awards will recognize exceptional businesses throughout the region — including our close neighbors within Monroe County — in more than 150 categories that are nominated and voted on by our readers.

Winners will be showcased in the inaugural Best of the Finger Lakes magazine distributed in the Daily Messenger, Wayne Post, Monroe County Post publications and on MPNnow.com.

Readers who nominate and vote for area businesses will have a chance to win a $250 gift card.

“We at Messenger Post Media are excited to provide our readers the opportunity to share their opinions and experiences by recognizing the many top-notch businesses within our region,” said Brian Doane, president and publisher of Messenger Post Media. “At the same time, we look forward to providing a nice boost to these businesses by highlighting the many aspects that make them the best of the best.”

The selection process is divided into two rounds: nomination and voting.

The nomination round begins on July 12 and runs through Aug. 7. The nomination ballot will be write-in on paper and online. Paper ballots will be accepted only via mail with a limit of two original ballots per envelope.

Print ballots will be available in the Daily Messenger on the two Sundays prior to the close of nominations and in the Wayne Post and Monroe County Post papers in the last two weeks of the nomination period. Online nominations will be limited to one vote per user.

Following the nomination period, a second round of voting will commence on Sept. 13 and run through Oct. 9. The final round of voting will be entirely online.

In addition to appearing in the Best of the Finger Lakes magazine, winners and nominees also will be honored at an awards ceremony to be announced later.
