Crews worked where a possible lightning strike downed power lines in the area of Bankert Road and County Road 13.

Route 96 between County Road 13 and Bankert Road in Clifton Springs was to be shut down until possibly 9 p.m. Saturday.

NYSEG installed a pole at Bankert Road and ran wires across the roadway.

NYSEG and Clifton Springs fire crews were trying to determine if a lightning strike was to blame for a power outage Saturday in the area of Route 96 and Bankert Road.

Kodey Clark, second assistant fire chief for the Clifton Springs Fire Department, said firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after 1:30 p.m., just east of Dorgan Welding Service.

Wires were arcing in the middle of the road when they arrived, Clark said.
