Money will help fund renovations and add more treatment beds at FLACRA's home base in Clifton Springs.
Finger Lakes Area Counseling and Recovery Agency is one of six projects to share in $18.7 million to support the Finger Lakes region’s health care system.
State Sen. Pam. Helming, R-Canandaigua announced the funding for FLACRA, based in Clifton Springs in Ontario County, which is part of an overall $491 million being spent for the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program.
The program is to improve patient care in communities throughout the state by developing high-quality medical facilities and programs that serve a variety of needs.
FLACRA received $3.5 million to further integrate its inpatient rehabilitation with its onsite outpatient services and improve the transition of patients back into their communities. The overall Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program funding was enacted through this year’s New York State budget, according to the senator. FLACRA was awarded its money based on the strength of its application.
The funds will help fund renovations of FLACRA’s home base in Clifton Springs. That will include adding 25 treatment beds to help alleviate a waiting list for beds. “As a result, more lives will be saved, more individuals can move to lifelong recovery, and more families will be reunited,” stated FLACRA Executive Director Martin Teller.
“I am so pleased that we were able to achieve this funding in the budget for our health care facilities across the Finger Lakes region and that the Finger Lakes Area Counseling and Recovery Agency was able to benefit from it,” stated Helming. “With the heroin and opioid epidemic becoming more prevalent every day, FLACRA’s services are becoming even more crucial to help those struggling with addiction to overcome this disease and return health and safe to our community. As a member of the New York State Senate Joint Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, I will continue to advocate for FLACRA and those who provide these important recovery services.”
