A seminar Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Hobart and William Smith Colleges will focus on harmful algal blooms in the Finger Lakes. Presenters will include local scientists and engineers addressing how harmful algal blooms affect the quality of the lakes, drinking water supplies and related concerns.

The event will run from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Sanford Room, Warren Hunting Smith Library at the Colleges, 30 Pulteney St., Geneva. It will include a mid-day break and wrap up with a panel discussion and Q&A at 4:20 p.m., a networking reception at 5 p.m. and at 5: 30 p.m., an “Old Fashioned Barbeque Dinner" including vegetarian sides.
