Newark Middle School recently named John Ginter as an administrative intern for 2017-18 to perform the duties of an assistant principal.
Ginter worked as a school counselor at Newark High School for eight years. The internship will meet a requirement for his administrative degree at University of Rochester.
Ginter, who served as summer school principal at NHS this summer, worked at NMS with Principal Teresa Prinzi and Greg Herbst, assistant principal, in recent weeks as time allowed to help them gear up for the opening of school in September.
“We are very excited to have John working alongside of us this year,” Prinzi said. “He has already begun to make connections and build partnerships with our students and families. His background and experiences, as well as organization and leadership skills, will be an asset to our school community. We are really looking forward to working with John this year.”
Ginter earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in school counseling at University at Buffalo.
He lives in Fairport with his wife, Christine, a reading intervention specialist at West Irondequoit Central School District, and 5-month-old twins Lincoln and Evelyn.
