John Kucko, of WROC-TV, will speak at the first Western Wayne Art Group meeting for the 2017-18 season from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 19 at Walworth Town Hall, 3600 Lorraine Drive.
Kucko will share his photography, history and knowledge of the western New York area. He anchored TV sports for 29 years before switching gears and pursuing work in digital content.
He has worked in the Rochester TV market since 1989. Kucko stayed at WROC-TV in a part-time role, anchoring the daily 4 p.m. broadcast. This allows him to travel the area and work on his photography.
Kucko covered 19 super bowls, hundreds of Buffalo Bills games and broke the J-Mac story, which went global, during his sports days. In his digital role, Kucko photographed the Ice House on Lake Ontario; conducted a Facebook live broadcast on Election Day at Susan B. Anthony’s gravesite, which reached 23 million views; and told the story of Lake Ontario in 2017 from erosion to flooding. He also captured the building of the new bridge in Letchworth.
WWAG meets the third Tuesdays of each month. New members are welcome.
