People have a couple more days to enjoy the warmth before the mercury slides down a couple dozen degrees

Summertime, and the livin' is easy ...

Well, technically, it stopped being summer a few days ago, at the fall equinox on Sept. 22 — but don't tell the mercury. The temperature Monday in the Canandaigua region hovered in the high 80s and even low 90s (Fahrenheit) for much of the day, continuing an extended stretch of 80-plus-degree days.

And there's more to come — for a couple days, anyway; then expect an abrupt change of circumstances.

A high of 87 degrees is projected for Tuesday, with a high of 86 on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. (Wednesday also brings a 30-percent chance of showers). But then on Thursday and Friday and a couple days beyond, expect highs in the mid 60s, with nighttime lows dipping into the high 40s.

That's a concern for later in the week. For now, folks are enjoying the sunshine and the opportunity to spend days on Canandaigua Lake and other sunny spots.
