The Wayne County Department of Aging and Youth will hold presentations about New York State Kinship Navigator at 10 a.m. in October and November at its Lunch Club 30 centers.
A kinship caregiver is an individual that is caring for a child that is not biologically their own. Kinship living arrangements include informal custody, legal custody or guardianship, direct custody pursuant to an Article 10 proceeding and adoption.
The presentation will discuss how the navigator program can help. The program seeks to assist caregivers by providing information on financial assistance, legal information and referrals and other types of issues faced when raising children in order to provide stability and permanency in the home.
The sessions will run Oct. 12 at Faith United Methodist Church, 1223 Oswego St., Wolcott; Oct. 20 at Emmanuel Methodist Church, 301 E. Miller St., Newark; Oct. 31 at Brown Square Village Apartments, 2100 Brown Square, Ontario; Nov. 3 at 47 Maple Ave., Sodus; Nov. 15 at Village Park and Club Rooms, 149 E. Main St., Palmyra; and Dec. 12 at Clyde UMC, 84 Sodus St.
