Mike Jankowski recently spoke to the Daughters of the American Revolution’s Col. William Prescott Chapter in Newark about his duties and responsibilities as Wayne County clerk.
Jankowski has held the position for 12 years, and is one of 29 county clerks to serve since 1823. He referenced the government documents and records his office maintains for public use and those doing research.
The county clerk website offers digitized records and indexes. Jankowski provided DAR members will a booklet that featured a copy of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, which is available at Wayne County Clerk’s Office, 9 Pearl St., Lyons.

The National Society DAR was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. Its members are descended from the patriots who fought in the Revolutionary War.
