The weather was great; we hope you were there! It’s not very often that we get two beautiful days together on a weekend to celebrate Palmyra Canaltown Days, but this year we did, and a good time was had by all. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the many people of Palmyra once again for coming out and making this year’s 50th Canaltown Days celebration, such a grand event.
My special thanks to the Canaltown Days Committee and their extended committees for all of their time and effort in planning and executing our great festival. The teamwork and coordination by this group of volunteers is evident by the enjoyment of the thousands that come to celebrate with us.
I’d also like to thank our many sponsors for their contributions and support. Without their support, our festival would not be what it is. Thank you for your expense and loyalty to Palmyra Canaltown Days.
As well, I’d like to thank all the volunteers and helpers throughout the community for whatever part you played in this communitywide event. It takes many hands to make this all a success, and I appreciate each and every one of you for your efforts.
I’d also like to add that Palmyra Canaltown Days is organized by volunteers, many of which have been working with us for many years. We need new volunteers each year to take over for those that inevitably step down from time to time. Not to be age discriminatory, we need the next generation to step up and volunteer so they can continue our festival into the future. In addition to general helpers, we’re looking for a few people that could work with a committee for a year or so and then take it over on their own.
