Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to make a stop in western New York on Tuesday.

The vice president will land in Buffalo just before noon on Tuesday and then meet with business leaders, community leaders and families. He's expected to push President Donald Trump's tax reform plan. Congressman Chris Collins will join Pence in Buffalo.

Ahead of Pence's visit, Senator Chuck Schumer delivered a message to the vice president.

Schumer says President Trump's tax reform plan will hurt middle class families. The change would not allow New Yorkers to deduct their state taxes from their federal tax bill. On the Senate floor Monday, Schumer said the move would hammer the New York economy.

Schumer said, "I hope he's prepared to explain why he wants to hike taxes on thousands of middle class families -- in the Buffalo area, in the Rochester area, in the Syracuse area and the Albany area -- by eliminating the state and local deduction."

Schumer's office cited IRS information from 2015. In a statement, they claim 29-percent of people in Congressman Collin's district use the deduction with an average deduction of $12,000 a year.
