The Landmark Society of Western New York today announced the Lehigh Valley Railroad Roundhouse in Manchester among its 2017 Five to Revive.

The long-abandoned roundhouse in the village of Manchester is one of the few remaining railroad roundhouse structures in the Northeast. The Landmark Society dubbed the roundhouse “a highly significant and rare building type, with potential for future redevelopment.”

The announcement was made at the Landmark Society headquarters on South Fitzhugh Street in Rochester. The list identifies opportunities for targeted, strategic revitalization, drawing attention to key priorities for revitalization in western New York.

The Landmark Society’s 2017 complete Five to Revive list:

· Elim Bible Institute, village of Lima, Livingston County

· Lehigh Valley Railroad Roundhouse, Village of Manchester, Ontario County

· Hotel DeMay, Town of Greece, Monroe County

· Tent City, 280 Lyell Avenue, city of Rochester, Monroe County

· The Front Porch, throughout western New York
