The Macedon Community Christmas program is getting ready for another year of helping local families during the holiday season.
Macedon families in need have received assistance through this program for 34 years. Individual, group and organizational opportunities to help are available.
Canned and nonperishable food donations will go toward Macedon Food Pantry. Interested benefactors can ask for a family assignment to provide a food box for a holiday meal.
The program accepts gift certificates from local grocery stores in order to purchase perishable food items, such as milk, eggs and meat. Additional gift certificates from area stores will buy items such as clothes, gas and toiletries.
Residents can buy gifts for children and/or senior citizens. The program will provide ideas, if needed.
Volunteers will meet to organize the donations at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at St. Patrick’s Church, 52 W. Main St., Macedon.
The Macedon Community Christmas program is possible through efforts by Macedon Food Pantry at St. Patrick’s Church, of St. Katharine Drexel Parish; area churches; schools; civic organizations; businesses; scouting groups; and individuals. The program provided holiday support to 140 Macedon families, totaling over 450 individuals with 200 children, in 2016.
