UPDATE: Parts of I-490 E were shutdown after a car and a tractor trailer collided near Bushnell's Basin and Route 31 around 2 a.m. Wednesday. Officials say the driver of the car, a woman from Webster was going the wrong way. At this point, motorists are allowed to pass through one lane.
Parts of 490 were shutdown early Wednesday morning after a crash involving a tractor trailer.
The crash happened just before 2:00 a.m.. Deputies say that a driver saw a vehicle going the wrong way on 490 East. The driver who witnesses this called 911, and deputies were dispatched to the area.
As deputies were responding, a head-on crash on 490 East was reported. The crash happened between the exits for Route 31 and Bushnell’s Basin.
Deputies say the crash involved a tractor trailer, driven by 39-year-old Travis Britt of Georgia, and 26-year-old Marissa Pecora of Webster. The tractor trailer was on fire when deputies arrived.
Deputies say they found Pecora trapped in her car and unconscious. Bushnell's Basin Fire and EMS responded, and were able to remove Pecora. Both Pecora and Britt were taken to the hospital. Deputies say Pecora only has minor injuries.
Due to the impact, deputies say the tractor trailer leaked 30 to 40 gallons of gasoline. One lane is now open on 490 East between Route 31 and Bushnell’s Basin.
The investigation is pending.
