Police say the man was arrested before making contact with the victim.
State police arrested a Shortsville man they say was planning to engage in sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl. According to police, Scott A. Castle, 36, drove to the village of Dansville with plans to rape the child. Police said Castle was arrested on Friday, before making contact with the victim.
Castle was charged with first-degree attempted Rape (a Class C-Felony); first-degree attempted criminal sex act; and first-degree attempted disseminating indecent material to minors (Class E-Felony).
Castle was arraigned before Dansville Village Court and sent to the Livingston County Jail on $40,000 cash bail/$80,000 bond.
Dansville Police and the Department of Homeland Security helped state police in the investigation.
