Atlantic Avenue between Coventry Avenue and Illinois Street will be shut down Monday morning after a pedestrian was hit and killed around 2 a.m. Police say 27-year-old Michael Roderiques of Irondequoit has been charged for DWI with additional charges pending. The name of the victim has yet to be released.

Police say a man was killed after being hit by a drunk driver.

Officers responded to Atlantic Avenue near Indiana Street around 2 a.m. on Monday for the report of a pedestrian struck. Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a car traveling eastbound on Atlantic Avenue hit the pedestrian. Officers arrested 27-year-old Michael Roderiques of Irondequoit for DWI. Additional charges are pending.

The victim’s name has not been released. Atlantic Avenue between Coventry Avenue and Illinois Street will be shut down throughout the investigation Monday morning.
