A Gates woman is facing charges after police say she made false claims of police abuse.

On Nov. 15, police arrested 49-year-old Tina Lehman for obstructing governmental administration. Police say Lehman physically and verbally interjected herself while an officer was holding four suspects. According to police, the suspects had been removed from a vehicle and ordered onto the ground after marijuana and a hand gun were found inside the vehicle.

The following day, police say Lehman filed a citizen’s complaint against two of the officers, and claimed that one of the officers pointed a gun at her face for two minutes. She also claimed that the other officer pushed her face into the mud after she was handcuffed. Police say she signed a sworn written statement and also asked that the officers be fired.

On Nov. 20, officers charged Lehman for making a false written statement. She will appear in Gates Court on Dec. 15.
