The Col. William Prescott Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution named the winners of its 2017 Good Citizen program and scholarship contest during a recent reception at Park Presbyterian Church in Newark.
Reese Holahan, of Marion, won first place. Alesha Griffo, of Wayne, took second place, and Grace Kreuser, of Newark, placed third.
The DAR Good Citizens program recognizes youth who exhibit the qualities of good citizenship in their homes, school and communities. Winners demonstrate dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
The National Society DAR was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. Members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War. Visit dar.org for information.
