Zackary Dwello, a 17-year-old senior at Sodus High School, was stabbed Friday night near Perkins Park.
An investigation is continuing into the stabbing death of Zackary Dwello, a 17-year-old senior at Sodus High School, in Newark on Friday night.
According to Newark Police Chief David Christler, Dwello was found stabbed near Perkins Park shortly after a 911 call at 10:28 p.m. Friday. When aid arrived, he was losing blood and unresponsive.
Dwello was taken to Newark Wayne Community Hospital, where he was stabilized, but then was transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital for further treatment. He died around 6 a.m. Saturday, according to Christler.
Christler said the authorities are now treating the case as a homicide, but that they have no additional leads at this time.
Dwello is the second student at Sodus Jr./Sr. High School to be murdered within the last two months. Alyssa Taft, 17, died in early November when authorities said she was killed by ex-boyfriend David Knight-Hollis.
It is not known why Dwello was in Newark at the time.
A robbery took place nearby around the same time, but authorities do not believe the cases are connected.
