A Greece man has been arrested in connection with October’s fatal pedestrian accident in the Wayne County town of Walworth.

Stephen F. Mazzochetti Jr., 54, of Fetzner Road, was arrested Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. He was charged with criminal negligent homicide, assault in the third degree and traffic offenses including reckless driving, failure to exercise due care, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving on a sidewalk and failure to keep right.

On Oct. 7, Mazzochetti was driving north on Teresa Drive in a 2003 Chevy van when he became distracted and struck Roger E Drouin, of Walworth, who was walking on the sidewalk, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office alleges. Drouin later died of his injuries after being transported via Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Mazzochetti was arraigned in Wayne County Court before Judge Richard M. Healy and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail.
