The village of Newark will host its fifth annual snowman building contest throughout February, with judging taking place on March 1.
Village residences and businesses are invited to create a snow sculpture in February. Contest judges will take photos of each creation for consideration.
Residents can win $100 for first place, $50 for second place. The best business entry will receive the Snowman Trophy and pizza.
Entries must be located in the village of Newark. Snow creations must be suitable for all audiences.
Residential entries must be located on the property’s front lawn in clear view from the road, and may not block sidewalks or driveways. Business entries must be located in front of the business on lawn areas, or on sidewalks no more than 3 feet from the building. The creations may not block sidewalk or building entrances.
Only food coloring can be used to color submissions. No wood or metal framework can be incorporated in the structure of the snow sculpture. Entries should be of a noninteractive nature, meaning no areas are intended for people to walk on, crawl, stand, sit under or climb. Do not submit photos.
