Wayne County doctor has been the subject of previous investigations

The Wayne County doctor arrested on child porn charges appeared in federal court Friday morning.

Investigators say Dr. David Blasczak took explicit pictures of his young patients in his Clyde office. They say he told parents he did this for research and paid them. Prosecutors say he also bought thousands of sexually explicit images of children.

The Daily Messenger's news partner, News 10NBC has also learned there were at least two separate local criminal investigations into the doctor for alleged inappropriate behavior with minors. Neither investigation appears to have resulted in any charges.

News 10NBC spoke with one woman who says Blasczak was her husband's doctor.

"He had approached my husband, asking him if he could agree to let our daughter participate in a research project that he was doing where he would take pictures of children's genitalia ... compare those who had been abused to those who hadn't been abused, and would my husband allow that," Debbie Hall said. "My husband came home and asked me and I said 'absolutely not' and at that point I said 'this is not okay.'"

She went on to say her daughter was less than 5 years old at the time.

On Friday, Finger Lakes Health released a statement saying Blasczak has been fired and that his medical staff privileges have been revoked.

"We are deeply saddened and want to support the affected families," Lara Turbide, vice president of community services for Finger Lakes Health, said. "We are committed to the health of our community and encourage anyone with additional information to reach out to law enforcement at the Homeland Security Investigations’ Buffalo office at 716-464-5931."

Blasczak was arrested Thursday. He is currently only charged with trafficking online in child pornography. The judge is giving him one week to find his own lawyer. He remains in Monroe County Jail without bail.

Authorities are asking anyone who may know something about these allegations to contact them.
