As Super Bowl Sunday approaches and football fans across the country prepare for the game, the Stop-DWI program and all Wayne County law enforcement want to spread the message about designating a sober driver, because fans don’t let fans drive drunk.
The Super Bowl is one of America’s most highly anticipated sports events, when friends and family gather in homes, bars and restaurants to celebrate. Whether attending the game, watching at a bar or hosting a party, Sheriff Barry Virts reminds everyone that the county will hold a Super Bowl Stop-DWI Crackdown on Feb. 2-5.
Before choosing to drink, choose your team’s MVP — a sober designated driver — or plan another way to get home safely. Ask a sober friend for a ride home, call a friend or family member or just stay for the night.
Seat belts are the best defense against a drunk driver in a crash. Do not drink and drive.
The Stop-DWI Foundation created Have a Plan, a mobile app that is available as a free download for smartphones to help find safe rides home. Visit for information.
