A longtime Lotto player from Macedon won an $8.9 million New York State Lottery jackpot.
Richard Giles, 76, bought the winning ticket in October at Hegedorn's Market in Webster.
Giles came forward in December, but his win remained a mystery until a New York State Lottery news conference on Thursday. He received an oversized check to celebrate his big win, and Hegedorn's made a cake to congratulate him.
News10NBC asked the retired Xerox employee what he plans on doing now.
"I'm gonna pay off some of the bills, and probably give some to my church and some to my brothers and sisters," Giles said.
"What are you going to buy your wife?" asked New York State Lottery spokeswoman Yolanda Vega.
"She'll tell me what she wants," Giles replied.
He opted to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment.
Giles will receive a check for more than $4 million after required withholdings.
