The advisory against unnecessary travel in Ontario County has been lifted as of 7 p.m. Wednesday. The advisory was not mandatory, but caution was urged if traveling on Ontario County roads during the winter storm.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has issued a “no unnecessary travel” advisory as a result of the winter storm many areas are experiencing.
The advisory means that hazardous driving conditions exist and so motorists are urged to avoid driving unless necessary, according to Sheriff Philip Povero.
The restriction is not mandatory, Povero said.
If a motorists determines it is necessary to drive, Povero said to do so with caution because of changing weather conditions.
Several area schools have closed for the day.
Snow began accumulating earlier this morning. Anywhere from 4 to 8 inches is expected to fall today, according to the AccuWeather forecast for Canandaigua.
