Horse hit and killed on County Road 14.

Ontario County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of horses on the highway near the Intersection of County Road 35 and County Road 14 at 2:33 a.m. Thursday.

The Owner of those horses was located and he responded to herd the animals back to his property at 8886 Co. Rd 14 in Ionia. Deputy Brittini Arnold was assisting the owner of the horses in that task when a pick up truck which was traveling westbound on County Road 14 crested a small rise in the highway and one of the four horses ran from the north shoulder into the path of the westbound pick-up truck being operated by Jeffery Storie.

Neither Mr. Storie or his passenger Lance Gysel were hurt in the collision, the horse was killed on impact. Members of the Ionia Fire Department assisted at the scene and West Bloomfield highway department responded with a loader to remove the horse from the highway.
