Pittsford's Morgan Schild finished 15th after her first run, and only the top 12 could advance.
Pittsford's Morgan Schild failed to medal in Women's Moguls on Sunday after barely failing to advance out of the first run of the finals round.
Schild finished 15th after her first run, and only the top 12 could advance. She scored 72.23, a point behind the 12th-place finisher. It was a disappointment after she had made it through qualification rounds in third place, but an impressive showing nonetheless for the 20-year-old Schild, who missed two seasons after an injury in 2015.
France's Perrine Laffont ended up taking gold in the event, followed by Canada's Justine Dufour-Lapointe with silver and Kazakhstan's Yulia Galyshevawith the bronze.
Schild is one of four Rochester-area athletes competing in PyeongChang: hockey player Brian Gionta will take the ice with Team USA for their first game early Wednesday morning, fellow Pittsford native Paige Conners is competing with Team Israel in pairs figure skating, and Jon Lillis- another product of Bristol Mountain- will be competing in aerials during the Olympics' middle weekend.
