A National Veterans Cemetery in Western New York is closer to becoming a reality.

According to Senator Charles Schumer, the US Department of Veteran Affairs acquired the additional land needed to build the cemetery in the town of Pembroke, Genesee County.

Schumer is urging the VA to start construction of the cemetery this year, and says it will save thousands of military families from having to travel upward of a hundred miles to visit their loved ones in the closest VA cemetery in Bath.
