The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance urges taxpayers to save time by getting online to check the status of their income tax refunds.
The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance is advising taxpayers to save time by getting online to check the status of their income tax refunds. Checking online will avoid having to wait on the phone.
You can check your refund at http://on.ny.gov/1RJygLJ via the www.tax.ny.gov site.
To use the online application you’ll need to enter the refund amount you're claiming, your Social Security number, and which form you filed.
The online application will provide you with the same information as a Tax Department phone representative, plus the application is available around the clock.
The second best way to find out the status of your refund is to use the automated phone line (518-457-5149), which is also available anytime and provides the same information that you would receive from a phone representative.
If you would like to receive periodic updates about your refund as it moves through processing, create an Online Services account and sign up to receive information about your account by email, visit http://on.ny.gov/1Zg8WwW
